First and foremost, I am not a professional cook. I don’t have elaborate recipes or techniques (flames in my apartment? No thanks.) I simply enjoy trying recipes that are not only delicious, but also easy and somewhat quick to make.
I’m a nurse and a grad student, so when it comes time to cooking food, I can’t invest a ton of time on it. My fiancé and I can easily order take-out or just eat at a restaurant on a daily basis, but that’s too much money to spend. I was actually mostly inspired to cook at home because my fiancé and I like knowing what’s exactly in the food we eat.
Usually on my days off, I’ll try and make something that takes time (lumpia, for example), but this blog will mostly have recipes I’ve made for dinner after getting off work at 5pm. Hopefully, it can give some people inspiration on what to make for dinner for his/her family after a busy day at work. At least, that’s what I’d like to think.
The reason for starting this is mainly because I’ve slowly been getting into cooking at home and have had several people on social media and in person ask me for recipes. I end up e-mailing multiple people and occasionally just fail to e-mail others at all. Wouldn’t posting it on a blog be easier? Let’s hope!
Like I said, I’m not a professional cook and I don’t have years of experience. I do appreciate constructive feedback, so feel free to do so. I’m sure my parents will have tons to say once they stumble onto this blog. I, sadly, did not inherit their amazing cooking skills. Maybe after a few years, I’ll get to their level.
